Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Record-breaking floods have hit Dubai after up to 10 inches of rain fell in a matter of hours on Monday. The torrential downpours caused widespread damage, flooding homes, businesses, and roads.

The rain began late Monday afternoon and continued for several hours. The Met Office reported that some areas of the city received more than 10 inches of rain, the highest amount ever recorded in Dubai.

The flooding caused major disruptions to transportation and business. Many roads were impassable, and several schools and businesses were closed. Dubai International Airport reported that it had to cancel several flights due to the weather.
